Smart Home Lighting Overview
Smart Home Lighting with EGLO connect.z
Smart Home lighting connects lights, light bulbs and control options to create a networked lighting system. This lets you adjust brightness, shades of white and – depending on the product – RGB colours individually and control multiple light sources together. With EGLO connect.z, smart lighting includes complete lights, LED light bulbs, LED strips and compatible accessories. Depending on the level of convenience you want, you can control your Smart Home lighting via remote control, connect.z Switch, smartphone app, voice command or a compatible Smart Home system. This allows you to set up Smart Home lighting control to suit your rooms and everyday life, then expand it step by step.
Smart Home lighting that suits your home
With EGLO connect.z, you can control and customise your lighting to suit your everyday life and your rooms. The Smart Home lighting system combines smart lights, LED light bulbs, LED strips and compatible accessories. Depending on the level of convenience you want, you can control your lights via remote control, connect.z Switch, smartphone app, voice command or a compatible Smart Home system.
Smart lighting to suit your home
Getting started is particularly easy: a connect.z light can be connected directly to the remote control and operated without an app or additional hub. If you want to expand your Smart Home later, simply add more lights, light bulbs and controls. This way, a single product can gradually grow into a networked lighting system for your home.
Smart Home lights, light bulbs and accessories in one system
EGLO connect.z includes not only technical-looking Smart Home products, but also decorative and homely lights. This means you can choose intelligent lighting to suit your interior style without having to decide between attractive design and smart functions.
Discover Smart Home lights
In the Smart Home lights category, you will find complete smart lights for different areas of your home. The range includes ceiling lights, pendant lights, table lights and table lamps, floor lights and floor lamps, wall lights, spotlights, recessed lights, LED strips and outdoor lights. This gives you suitable solutions for the living room, bedroom, kitchen, dining room, home office, hallway and other areas of your home. Depending on the model, individual lighting areas, such as direct and indirect light, can be controlled and dimmed separately.
Discover Smart Home light bulbs
In the Smart Home light bulbs category, you will find solutions that make existing lights smart without extensive modifications. The range includes connected LED light bulbs with E27, E14 and GU10 bases. Smart LED PUCK modules also allow suitable recessed lights to be retrofitted. This means you can continue using your existing lighting while adding smart lighting functions.
Remote control and connect.z Switch as flexible accessories
The connect.z remote control and connect.z Switch complement both smart lights and smart light bulbs. They offer conventional push-button control, making them particularly practical when several people in the household use the lights or when your smartphone is not at hand.
Control Smart Home lighting with ease
With EGLO connect.z, you decide how you want to control your smart lighting. Depending on the application, you can use the remote control, connect.z Switch, app, voice control or integration into compatible Smart Home systems. You can start small and expand the system later with additional lights, light bulbs and control options.
Control via app, remote control or voice
The existing detailed sections below cover the remote control, Switch, app and voice control/Smart Home systems.
Flexible control with EGLO connect.z
With EGLO connect.z, you decide how extensive you want your smart lighting control to be. You can start small and expand the system later with additional lights, light bulbs and control options.
connect.z remote control: Smart Home without an app or hub
You do not need an app or additional hub to use the connect.z remote control. One remote control can connect up to 50 lights and organise them into up to three lighting groups. You can switch the lights on and off, dim them, select shades of white and set RGB colours manually or use an automatic colour-changing mode. The remote control also features a candle mode that simulates the flicker of candlelight and two favourite buttons for saving your individual lighting settings.
connect.z Switch: lighting control on the wall or in your hand
The battery-powered connect.z Switch lets you switch and dim your lighting, adjust the colour temperature and control RGB colours. You can save a preferred lighting setting as a favourite. The wall bracket can be screwed into place or attached to a smooth surface using adhesive. As the Switch attaches magnetically to the bracket, you can also remove it and use it flexibly as a mobile control.
connect.z app: control up to 50 lights via smartphone
The connect.z app connects directly to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. No additional hub is required for app-only control. Up to 50 lights can be operated with one smartphone, controlled together or organised into groups. The remote control and Switch can also be integrated into the app. Existing products from the previous connect-c system can be controlled together with connect.z products via the app.
Voice control and integration into other Smart Home systems
EGLO connect.z can also be controlled by voice. A direct connection to Amazon Alexa is possible if the Alexa device you use has an integrated Zigbee hub. Otherwise, you need an open, compatible Zigbee hub. Google Home generally requires a compatible external hub. Homey also allows EGLO lights to be integrated into more comprehensive automations with devices from different manufacturers.
Smart lighting for different everyday situations
Smart lighting lets you adjust more than just brightness. Depending on the product, EGLO connect.z offers up to 50,000 shades of white and up to 16 million RGB colours. Warm white light, for example, creates a cosy atmosphere, while brighter, cooler shades of white support focused work. Coloured light adds accents and changes the atmosphere of a room. You can control multiple lights together, create groups or put together individual lighting moods for different everyday situations. Selected models allow different lighting areas to be controlled separately. This makes smart LED lighting both functional and a visible part of your interior.
Automatic lighting functions with the connect.z app
The app's automation functions let you adjust your lighting automatically to your daily routine. With the timer and calendar, you can set switch-on and switch-off times, select specific days of the week and activate weekly repetition if required. The twilight simulator works as a light alarm clock, gradually increasing the brightness for a more relaxed start to the day. With the disco function, the lighting responds to the rhythm of the music. The app picks up the beat via your smartphone's microphone and transfers it to the lighting. Presence simulation switches selected lights on and off at varying intervals. This can make your home appear occupied even when you are away.
Zigbee as the basis of EGLO connect.z
EGLO connect.z is based on Zigbee, a wireless standard for connecting compatible Smart Home devices. connect.z lights form a stable Zigbee network with each other. This allows multiple lights and light bulbs to be controlled reliably together and the lighting system to be expanded step by step.
What are the benefits of Zigbee for lighting control?
Zigbee enables multiple compatible devices to connect wirelessly, making it particularly suitable for an expandable Smart Home lighting system. EGLO connect.z can be integrated into open Zigbee 3.0 systems. This means the system is not exclusively tied to the EGLO app and can work with suitable solutions from other manufacturers.
Which Zigbee hubs are compatible with EGLO connect.z?
An existing hub can be used if it is an open Zigbee hub that supports EGLO connect.z products. A Zigbee hub is not automatically compatible with every Zigbee product. Before integration, you should therefore check whether the respective hub supports the open Zigbee 3.0 system and the connect.z functions you want to use.
Do I need a Zigbee hub for EGLO connect.z?
No, you do not need a Zigbee hub to get started. connect.z lights can be controlled directly with the remote control or via Bluetooth using the connect.z app. A compatible hub is only required if you want to integrate your lighting into certain higher-level Smart Home or voice-control systems. Google Home generally requires a compatible external hub. With Alexa, this depends on whether the Alexa device you use already has an integrated Zigbee hub.
Matter and EGLO connect.z
Matter is a cross-manufacturer Smart Home standard designed to simplify the connection of compatible devices and Smart Home platforms. The EGLO connect.z range also includes products that support Matter. The available functions and integration options depend on the individual product and the Smart Home system you use.
Which EGLO connect.z products support Matter?
Matter support is not available with every EGLO connect.z product. When purchasing, you should therefore check whether the respective model is specified as Matter-compatible. The range includes corresponding Smart Home lights and Smart Home light bulbs. This allows you to select products specifically for your preferred Smart Home system.
Which Smart Home lighting is right for you?
The right solution primarily depends on whether you are looking for a new light or want to add smart functions to your existing lighting. Your preferred control method and lighting functions also play a role in choosing the right option.
Smart Home lights or smart light bulbs?
If you are looking for a complete new light, the Smart Home lights category includes models with integrated smart lighting technology for different rooms and applications. If you want to keep an existing light instead, you can retrofit it with a suitable Smart Home light bulb.
Smart Home lighting with LED technology
EGLO connect.z uses LED technology for smart lights and light bulbs. Depending on the product, you can dim the brightness, adjust different shades of white or select RGB colours. The available lighting functions depend on the individual model.
Can I retrofit Smart Home lighting?
Yes. Smart E27, E14 or GU10 light bulbs allow you to integrate many existing lights into your Smart Home lighting system. Smart LED PUCK modules are also available for suitable recessed lights. This means you can continue using your existing lighting and gradually add smart functions.
